3 Tips to Chase Content Marketing Success Like Jason Chases Clueless Teenagers
There's no need to sprint or even walk very fast as long as you're persistent.
Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly: 3 thoughts on what Jason can teach us about content marketing plans.
So, RUN like Jason is chasing you (but remember, even he walks)
I am not a horror movie fan, I tapped out years ago after a combo of reading Stephen King’s IT, playing Silent Hill (a scary as hell video game), and watching Pet Cemetary - life's too short to be that anxious!).
Still, I have seen one or two of the Friday the 13th movies and Jason pops - unprompted and unwanted - into my head now and then when walking alone in the woods.
I woke up this morning thinking of Michael Meyers (and Jason) and the balance between urgency and patience.
Every classic slasher film has the trope of the characters sprinting frantically but without any direction or plan. Meanwhile, Jason's (or Michael's) slow, relentless walk is all he needs to keep up.
It's not a nice plan, but it is a plan and it works because he stays the course.
In content strategy, urgency does matter. If you want more customers, you have to move!
But speed without strategy? Like the hapless teens stumbling around in the dark?
That’s a one-way ticket to burnout and inconsistency. Moving quickly for the sake of “hustle” only gets you so far. It’s about the balance of pace and persistence.
Here’s the trick (or treat):
Move with purpose – Focused urgency keeps you on track. Every marketing effort, each new piece of content, and even daily tasks should support your larger vision. The urge to go viral or get quick results is natural, but make sure you’re on the right path. Running faster only works if you’re headed in the right direction.
Patience is a superpower – The characters who survive horror movies are those who don’t burn out. Slow and steady wins because persistence builds trust and reputation. Building a brand, growing a network, and earning respect take time, and shortcuts aren’t worth it. Jason’s strength isn’t his speed; it’s his relentless consistency—and it works! The same goes for your long-term goals.
Consistency trumps chaos – The biggest difference between true growth and a quick win is consistency. People come to trust and rely on you because you’re there—again and again, bringing value and authenticity. Jason’s persistence would be nothing without that steady, unchanging approach.
So run with the energy of those teenagers by the lake but combine that with the steady, unwavering, relentless drive of Jason.
And, hey, if you don't get it right the first time, there's always a sequel!

Run like Jason is chasing you? I'll remember that when I'm running later.
Clever analogy, Bryant. That man Jason is wise in some respects.
