Why Are We Here?

Because using words to attract customers and grow a business works.

Writing is hard. Content marketing is hard.

Both are also essential for success —

  • for individusals because writing is how we communicate our ideas (even if you never write anything other than an email)

  • for businesses because sharing useful information is a proven, time-tested method of attracting and retaining customers.

I’ll share useful tips, strategies, and advice that will help to attract people to your business.

I’ll provide guidance and show you what to do so you can do it yourself.

And then, when you realize you are an expert at running your business, not marketing it, you’ll consider working with me.

While there’s always something new in the world of marketing, the fundamentals remain unchanged — establish trust and sales will follow.

Useful content establishes trust.

I’ll use the experience I’ve gained from 30 years in publishing, from editorial intern to fax newsletter and print magazine editor to webinar host to community manager to writer and content marketer, to filter the garbage out, leaving on the gold to share with you.

My goal is to be one of your trusted resources for marketing information.

Along the way, I’ll also share thoughts on other topics I’m interested in — especially personal growth as it intersects with writing/marketing, a bit of psychology, and maybe even my love of toy soldiers and Hawaiian shirts.

This newsletter is free and will remain so for good long while, possibly forever. However, subscriptions are turned on and set at the lowest level Substack allows. They are appreciated — and contribute to my Hawaiian shirt fund!

I hope you join me.

Like the idea of everything above? Come on in, the water’s fine.

Content marketing is how you help people who will benefit from your product/service find you. I do that. And share tips and advice I learn along the way.

Useful content marketing & writing advice/tips. A distillation of lessons I've learned, plus new ideas and trends as I learn them (and unlearn what no longer works). We should always be learning something new!
